"The Tiskvili Group" and "Archi" present the legendary musical "Chicago" - Travel to America of the last century, all while enjoying a delicious dinner!
An impressive stage, live songs, extraordinary choreography, a stellar cast, amazing costumes, a creative team, and talented chefs - I can confidently say that the theater season commenced with a grand dinner!
The official license for the legendary musical, "Chicago" was secured by the "Tsiskvili Group" from the renowned theater company CONCORD THEATRICALS. "Chicago" is presented and sponsored by "Archi," a leading development company in Georgia that consistently supports innovative projects in culture and various other fields.
"When we learned that the world-famous and beloved musical 'Chicago' was set to be staged at 'Theatre,' we decided to become a part of this project as presenters. We are confident that, with the support of the professional teams at 'Theatre' and 'Archi,' this production will create unforgettable memories for the audience. We're delighted to collaborate with the 'Tsiskvili Group' and be co-participants in yet another innovative and successful project," says Shio Khetsuriani, General Director of "Archi."
"Chicago," the screen adaptation of which is well-known to the Georgian audience, was first staged in 1975. It is based on the play of the same name written by Maureen Dallas Watkins in 1926, depicting true crime stories and characters. The musical quickly gained popularity and was performed in over 36 countries worldwide after the USA. Starting from September 20, 2023, Georgia, Tbilisi, and Georgian viewers made their mark on the world map of "Chicago."
"Theatre" has successfully executed another large-scale project in the form of "Chicago." This is a highly intricate musical that our team of professionals dedicated substantial effort to bring to the stage. In the end, we managed to meticulously refine all its aspects, ensuring high quality in every facet, from the script, choreography, and music, to costumes, lighting, and the creation of the right atmosphere. We are delighted that the audience has already witnessed the results of our hard work and provided us with positive feedback," stated Zaal Chikobava, the Artistic Director of "Theatre" and the Stage Director of "Chicago."
As the author and screenwriter of the Georgian adaptation of "Chicago," Tea Kipshidze notes, "Chicago" is a sharp satire.
"The culture of that era is vividly reflected in it - corruption, crime, "blood," and sensationalist media. Simultaneously, the story of the main female characters unfolds during the era of the jazz age and the reevaluation of gender roles. Therefore, "Chicago" is not just a show that leaves an indelible impression on the audience but also a means to acquaint oneself with the 1920s, observe it, and potentially draw parallels with the present day."
It is worth noting the remarkable, simultaneously bold and sophisticated costumes, meticulously crafted by designer Lasha Jokhadze exclusively for the musical.
"I painstakingly created and attended to every detail of the costumes because they are an integral part of the narrative and play a significant role in establishing the atmosphere. Layers of opulent fabrics, embellishments, and forms encapsulate the essence of the era and delineate the characters' personalities and emotions," explained Jokhadze.
Frequent attendees of the "theatre" are already well aware that dinner for each performance is thoughtfully prepared, tailored to match the character and genre of the show. "Chicago" is no exception, and therefore, the dishes prepared for it were just as impressive and memorable as the show itself. The dinner included complimentary, an appetizer, a main course, and dessert.
"The first dish on our menu is a salmon roll, serving as the appetizer, which aligns perfectly with the essence of the performance. It offers a delightful interplay of sourness and saltiness, creating an intriguing tapestry of flavors, complete with a satisfying crunch and intricate details of molecular gastronomy," explained Alex Natadze, the brand chef of "Tsiskvili Group."
Slow Cooker Beef Ribs, eggplant gyoza, smoked pumpkin puree, walnut crumble with wasabi - the audience of the musical "Chicago" can taste these and various other international flavors at the "Theatre." Moreover, those who prefer a vegan menu will find it equally exceptional, featuring intriguing ingredient combinations and distinctive tastes.
An impressing performance and a distinctive atmosphere marked the grand premiere on September 20. "Tsiskvili Group" and "Archi" collaborated to bring this remarkable, iconic musical to the Georgian audience. Behind this achievement stood a dedicated team of professionals who poured their heart and soul into every aspect of the production. It's a musical that everyone should experience because Broadway has come to your country and your city.
Audience can catch the following performances on October 6-24, November 7-21, and December 5. The 2024 calendar will soon be available on the website: Teatri.ge.
“We are excited to introduce a new experience to our guests.
