Tsiskvili Theatre has introduced a completely new and distinctive concept to Tbilisi’s cultural and gastronomic scene. This is not merely a venue where audiences watch a show from afar—it is a place where guests become part of a grand celebration themselves. The unique Dining Theatre concept, which seamlessly combines refined gastronomy with high-quality stage productions, continues to surprise and delight visitors with every performance.

Following its successful Georgian and Broadway-style musicals, "Theatre" is now preparing for the season’s most vibrant and entertaining premiere. This time, the stage will be dedicated to Italian temperament, timeless melodies, and eternal love. On June 16, 17, and 18, audiences will experience the three-act musical comedy “The Taming of the Shrew, or Felicità.” Following the premiere, the musical will remain in Theatre’s repertoire throughout the year on specially scheduled dates. Tickets are available at teatri.ge.

William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew is one of the most celebrated plays in world drama. Over the centuries, it has been performed in nearly 100 languages and adapted thousands of times. Yet, until now, the only iconic musical inspired by the comedy was Kiss Me, Kate, which premiered on Broadway in 1948.

Tsiskvili Theatre now presents a completely exclusive and original interpretation. The creators of the concept and adaptation, Zaal Chikobava and Tea Kipshidze, have combined Shakespearean elements with motifs from the beloved cult Italian film by Castellano and Pipolo, starring Adriano Celentano and Ornella Muti.

“Time and eras seem to disappear here. From the 16th century to the present day, everyone is searching for the same thing—love. And in that search, everyone becomes a little stubborn: from the main characters to the residents of a small Italian village,” says Tea Kipshidze.

“Our goal was to create a musical that would transport audiences into a world of love, humor, and music from the very first minute. We brought together Shakespeare’s timeless story and the atmosphere of a beloved Italian classic in a way that feels relatable, emotional, and full of life.

The Taming of the Shrew, or Felicità is a story about people who must confront themselves before they can find love. That is why I believe this story never loses its relevance. The musical brings together theatre, music, dance, humor, and the unique energy that defines Italian culture.

I am delighted that Tsiskvili Theatre is once again offering audiences a completely new experience—a production where storytelling, live music, and gastronomy merge into one grand celebration. I believe that Felicità is the perfect word to capture the evening’s central emotion: happiness,” says director Zaal Chikobava.

The musical’s leading characters are Elia Sorcinelli, a stubborn and eccentric Italian farmer, and Lisa Armani, a wealthy and self-confident woman. Their roles are performed by two of Georgia’s most beloved actors, Gigi Dedalamazishvili and Tinatin Tsuladze. Sparks fly on stage, but one question remains unanswered: who is truly more stubborn—the man or the woman—and who will tame whom?

Audiences will also meet Mariko Ebralidze (Mami), Ana Kurtubadze (Renata), Andria Gvelesiani (Vittorio), and Aleksandre Begalishvili, who takes on the dual roles of William Shakespeare and Don Cirillo, alongside many other talented actors, singers, and dancers.

The production is filled with live performances, energetic choreography by Giorgi Toriashvili, and, most importantly, beloved Italian hits with Georgian lyrics adapted by Irina Sanikidze and Tea Kipshidze, while vocal direction was provided by Tamuna Archvadze.

At Tsiskvili Theatre, the experience extends far beyond the stage. An integral part of the musical is a specially curated menu created exclusively for the production by Brand Chef Alex Natadze. Italian flavors and temperament will be reflected on the table as well, offering guests a complete aesthetic and gastronomic experience.

The musical comedy was created with the support of Tsiskvili Group. The project’s official partners are Chivas Regal whisky and Guremani Winery. The media partner of the musical is Palitra Media Holding.

If you would like to discover what William Shakespeare himself might have said about all of this, witness how the battle of stubborn hearts unfolds, and experience the true meaning of Felicità, then visit Theatre on June 16, 17, 18, and 30, as well as July 9 and 14. The season will continue from September.

Don’t miss the year’s most musical, delicious, and joyful premiere—the stubborn ones are already waiting for you!
